The Consumer Protection Authority in the Sultanate of Oman issued a decision banning the circulation of electronic cigarettes, shisha, and their accessories. Article Two of the decision specified the penalties for violators. An administrative fine not exceeding 1,000 Omani riyals was imposed, and it will be doubled if the violation is repeated.
If the violation continues, an administrative fine of 50 Omani Riyals will be imposed for each day that the violation continues, provided that its total does not exceed 2,000 Omani Riyals, and the seized quantities of electronic cigarettes, shishas, and their accessories will be destroyed in accordance with the controls in force at the Consumer Protection Authority.
It is worth noting that the new decision doubled the administrative penalty, which was 500 Omani riyals for violators of the provisions of the decision, to 1,000 Omani riyals.
