The Arab League announces the opening of nominations for the Award of the Council of Arab Ministers Responsible for Environmental Affairs for the year 2024

The General Secretariat of the League of Arab States (Department of Environmental Affairs and Meteorology) announced the opening of nominations for the Award of the Council of Arab Ministers Responsible for Environmental Affairs for Arab Environmental Excellence for the year 2024. Its theme is “Rehabilitating Lands to Enhance Resilience” as the main focus of the Award of the Council of Arab Ministers Responsible for Environmental Affairs. the environment.

The Arab League announced that nominations will be sent to the Technical Secretariat of the Council via e-mail ([email protected]) no later than 6/1/2024.

The award aims to encourage innovative works and individual and collective initiatives that contribute to protecting the environment and preserving its resources and sustainability.

Contributing to providing an Arab environment that stimulates excellence, creativity and innovation in the field of environmental protection and development.

Encouraging and pushing towards the development of appropriate Arab environmental technologies, producing research and designing innovative programs as solutions to Arab environmental issues.

Providing an ideal Arab platform for disseminating and exchanging best practices and transferring successful experiences in the field of environmental protection and development.

Spreading a culture of environmental excellence in Arab society, and encouraging the benefit of local, regional and global heritage, knowledge and technologies in the field of environmental protection and development.

Promoting the achievement of environmental excellence in government work and within the framework of joint Arab environmental action.

Encouraging the private sector and Arab civil society organizations to excel and innovate in the field of environmental protection.

Encouraging the adoption of international environmental standards and applications, keeping pace with global environmental developments and developments, and paying attention to localizing and transferring knowledge in the field of artificial intelligence and the use of environmentally friendly technology.

The award is granted every two years for the best scientific research, innovation, project, environmental personality, or pioneering applied environmental work accomplished.

The Council of Arab Ministers responsible for environmental affairs determines the subject of the award from one of the specific areas, according to the priorities of Arab countries and their current and future interests.

The competition comes to achieve the award’s goals and objectives directed to a number of different sector segments, especially to honor individuals and institutions in the public and private sectors and civil/civil society organizations that work hard and diligently to protect and preserve the environment and its natural resources, encourage leadership and excellence, and present innovative ideas to protect the environment, in addition to its importance. In supporting scientists and specialized experts who are working to find innovative and effective environmental solutions to the challenges facing the Arab world in environmental fields, the award targets five areas.
