The Arab Observatory for Human Rights confirmed that the election of the Kingdom of Morocco to the presidency of the United Nations Human Rights Council for the year 2024, for the first time in its history, following a vote that took place in Geneva, is the culmination of its record of human rights achievements in various fields locally and internationally, and its tireless endeavor according to a road map to achieve more… These achievements in the field of human rights, and building the foundations for their sustainability, are considered recognition by the member states of the United Nations of all the efforts made by the Kingdom of Morocco to raise the voice of truth in the field of human rights, and its commitment to the principles of the Charter of the United Nations.
It also reflects the confidence of the international community that Morocco enjoys in On the one hand, this area, and on the other hand, the importance of its commitment to promoting and respecting human rights.
The Arab Observatory for Human Rights praised the Kingdom of Morocco’s progress and care for human rights, the care it gives to rights and freedoms, the major developments it has witnessed in the field of building national legislation, and its interest in national institutions concerned with strengthening the national human rights system, especially with regard to legislation, institutions and initiatives that have contributed to Consolidating the national experience based on the humanitarian approach, and deepening the state’s commitment and care for human rights, stressing that this victory is a reflection of the great roles played by the Kingdom of Morocco at home and abroad, to support and promote human rights and humanitarian principles.
The Arab Observatory for Human Rights expressed its confidence that Morocco will be a strong voice defending human rights issues in Arab countries at the United Nations, and carry out its role in promoting and protecting human rights, through its presence as president of the Council, to enhance cooperation and constructive dialogue efforts, and to strengthen partnerships between… countries in a way that contributes to enriching its work, pointing out that Morocco offers a solid experience in improving the human rights system at all levels, deriving its leadership from the cultural heritage of the Kingdom of Morocco and its constitution, which guarantees freedoms for all, and its legislative system that promotes the principles of justice, equality, tolerance, and respect for rights for all.
