China and Egypt will achieve greater development of the comprehensive strategic partnership in the following ten years, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Sunday.
Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made the remarks during the meeting with the press with Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry after their talks.
In the past ten years, under the strategic guidance of Chinese President Xi Jinping and Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi, China and Egypt have jointly opened up a golden era of leapfrog development in relations, said Wang.
During the press conference, Wang mentioned that he held fruitful talks with his Egyptian counterpart Sameh Shoukry and achieved broad consensus.
China and Egypt will continue to deepen strategic mutual trust and firmly support each other in safeguarding the core interests, said Wang, adding that China highly appreciates Egypt for always standing with China on the issues concerning China’s core interests and major concerns.
China also firmly supports Egypt in safeguarding its national sovereignty and security, as well as continuing to explore a development path suited to its national conditions, said the Chinese senior diplomat.
Wang noted that China looks forward to cooperating with Egypt to build the Belt and Road Initiative with a higher quality and to realize mutual benefits and win-win results at a higher level.
Wang also expressed China’s wiliness to work together with Egypt to promote cooperation in the fields of culture, exchange of youth, think tanks and vocational education, and to encourage more Chinese citizens to travel to Egypt and experience the charm of its ancient civilization.
Calling Egypt a representative of Arab states, Africa, Islamic countries, major developing nations and emerging economies, Wang said that China will advance closer communication and collaboration on regional and international issues with Egypt, so as to provide an good example of high-quality South-South cooperation, and jointly promote the development of global governance towards an equitable and orderly multipolar world and inclusive economic globalization.
