China has always stood on the side of fairness and justice and is committed to working together with Arab and Islamic countries to realize a ceasefire and protect the safety of civilians in the Gaza strip, said Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Sunday in Cairo, the capital of Egypt.
Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made the remarks when asked about the situation in Gaza during a joint press conference following the meeting with his Egyptian counterpart Sameh Shoukry in Cairo.
Wang said that China will make unremitting efforts to work toward a comprehensive, just, and lasting settlement of the Palestinian question at an early date.
He also proposed four points from China’s side to resolve the question, including realizing an immediate ceasefire, ensuring access for humanitarian assistance, respecting the will and independent choice of the Palestinian people over the arrangement on the future of Gaza, and implementing the two-state solution.
