As an embodiment of the efforts aimed at achieving the objectives of the National Tourism Strategy and consolidating the Sultanate of Oman’s position as a global tourist destination, the Sultanate of Oman opens today, Monday, the first phase of Madinat Al Irfan (East) and the official opening of the “JW Marriott Muscat” Hotel, under the patronage of Salem bin Mohammed Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Heritage. And tourism.
The 5-star hotel, with an investment cost of about 47 million Omani riyals, includes 304 hotel rooms and suites, as it is part of the Marriott Bonvoy International brand hotel chain, and the first hotel bearing the JW brand in the Sultanate of Oman, to be one of the main components completing the first phase of the development project. The city and the second hotel completed in it.
The opening of the hotel, which has received the LEED Gold certificate issued by the US Green Building Council, comes within the framework of the efforts made by the Omran Group to keep pace with the growing tourism movement in the Sultanate of Oman, by enhancing the group’s hotel assets and developing tourist destinations.
The hotel is distinguished by its strategic location in the heart of Madinat Al Irfan (east), and its direct connection to the Oman Convention and Exhibition Center, which contributes to supporting the tourism movement in general, and enhancing efforts to make the Sultanate of Oman a global center for receiving major meetings, conferences and exhibitions.
Al Irfan East City contains the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre, the four-star Crowne Plaza Hotel, and a business complex to serve as the main headquarters for the offices of leading companies such as the headquarters of the Oman Telecommunications Company “Omantel”.
The city constitutes a vibrant tourist destination that contributes to enhancing the social, economic and environmental aspects.
It reflects the pivotal role of the Omran Group in developing the tourism sector in the Sultanate of Oman, through urban development projects that work to support the country’s trends to achieve tourism growth.
