By Manal Abdel Fattah

The Egyptian Embassy in the Canadian capital, Ottawa, with the participation of the Consulate General in Montreal and the Egyptian Commercial Office, organized the “Second Forum for Egyptian Communities in Canada,” in the presence of representatives of approximately 16 Egyptian associations and groups from various Canadian provinces.

This is in addition to the broad participation of prominent figures from the Egyptian community in Canada.

This forum was devoted to reviewing and discussing the investment climate in Egypt, where Mr. Ahmed Zuhair, Head of the Central Administration for the Promotion of Foreign Investment at the General Authority for Investment, gave a presentation on the most important developments in the economic and investment file in Egypt during recent years, and the efforts made by the Egyptian state to promote and encourage foreign investment in the country. At the forefront are the facilities and incentives provided by the Egyptian government to attract foreign investment, in addition to reviewing the advantages that Egypt enjoys, highlighting the sectors targeted for development, such as the sectors of industry, communications, information technology, agriculture, and new and renewable energy, especially green hydrogen, as well as the tourism and health sectors.

Ambassador Ahmed Hafez, Egypt’s ambassador to Canada, stated that the meeting was a good opportunity for broad interaction with members of the Egyptian community. An interactive dialogue took place for more than two hours, during which inquiries related to investment in Egypt were answered. The embassy in Ottawa, the commercial office, and the Consulate General in Montreal were also keen to listen to comments and respond to inquiries from members of the community about all topics and services available to them, and work to develop them.
