Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, Sultan of Oman, awarded the Medal of Honor to Umberto Fani, Director General of the Royal Opera House, in appreciation of his good efforts in managing the Royal Opera House, and his contribution to enriching and disseminating the musical art and its various fields locally and globally through the programs offered by the house. The medal was presented by Khalid bin Hilal Al Busaidi, Minister of the Diwan of Royal Court.
In another context, the Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Social Development, participated in the 21st regular meeting of the Executive Council of the Arab Women Organization, which concluded its work in Cairo.
The Sultanate of Oman’s speech was delivered by Maani bint Abdullah Al Busaidia, Director General of Family Development at the Ministry of Social Development and head of the Sultanate of Oman’s delegation, in which she said: This meeting comes for the Arab Women’s Organization and our Arab world is witnessing security, political, economic, social and health challenges with direct impacts on women, most notably the devastating and ongoing war. On Palestine, leaving thousands of martyrs, most of them women and children, these are crimes that are contrary to international humanitarian law, international human rights law, and UN Security Council Resolution No. 1325 regarding women, peace and security. I find it an opportunity from the Arab women’s platform to salute the women of Palestine for their steadfastness and sacrifices in confronting the brutal occupation. I pray to God for healing for the injured and mercy for the martyrs.
She added that the Sultanate of Oman has paid great attention to Omani women, and has entrusted them with full confidence to carry out their duties and give them all their rights. Omani women are a successful model because of the pioneering role they play and an essential partner without which development in the country is not complete. They have registered their presence at various levels and contributed significantly to The process of human, cultural, economic, scientific and creative renaissance,
Since the beginning of the blessed renaissance process, Omani women have received great attention, care, and distinguished honor. The seventeenth of October every year was designated as Omani Women’s Day, and the high interest continued during the era of the renewed Omani renaissance led by Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, who paid clear attention to the participation of Omani women in national development. And supporting her role and empowering her in various fields. This was embodied by assigning a number of senior government positions to a number of glorious Omani women, including three ministerial portfolios in the Council of Ministers, three deputy ministers, and eighteen women in the State Council. There are many Omani women who work and hold important positions. In the diplomatic corps, they make outstanding contributions. Their number has reached two hundred and forty-nine women, i.e. thirty-one percent of the total number of employees in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the percentage of female workers in the missions of the Sultanate of Oman abroad is twenty percent of the total number of mission employees.
