The Chargé d’Affaires of the Iraqi Embassy meets with the Egyptian Deputy Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs

The Chargé d’Affaires of the Iraqi Embassy in Cairo met with Dr. Arwa Hashem, Deputy Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Arab Affairs and Director of the Arab Levant Sector, Minister Plenipotentiary Kamel Jalal, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters in Cairo.

The meeting discussed a number of bilateral and regional files of common interest, the most prominent of which was the emphasis on the importance of activating joint memorandums of understanding between Iraq and Egypt in a number of different fields, within the framework of the outputs of the Joint Higher Committee.

For her part, the Chargé d’Affaires affirmed the Iraqi government’s readiness to provide more support and assistance to the Palestinian brothers in general, and to the residents of the Gaza Strip in particular, noting that the Iraqi government had previously expressed its readiness to receive the wounded and injured Palestinians for treatment in Iraqi hospitals and health centers.

In another context, the Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Fuad Hussein, headed the delegation of the Republic of Iraq participating in the meeting of the Council of the League of Arab States at the ministerial level for an extraordinary session, via video conference technology, and the membership of the Undersecretary for Bilateral Relations, Muhammad Hussein Bahr Al-Ulum, and the Chairman The Arab Department, Dr. Osama Al-Rifai, and the temporary Chargé d’Affairs at the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Cairo, Dr. Arwa Hashem Abdel Hassan,
To take a decision that supports and endorses the Iraqi government in the legal measures it is taking to preserve the sovereignty, security and integrity of its territory from Iranian violations, the most recent of which was the bombing of several areas in the city of Erbil in northern Iraq, which claimed the lives of a number of martyrs and wounded civilians.

The Council meeting issued a resolution in which it strongly condemned the Iranian bombing and considered it a blatant aggression against the sovereignty of Iraq and the security of the Iraqi people and a grave violation of the principles of good neighborliness and international charters, laws and norms. The Council also affirmed its rejection of all justifications and pretexts advanced by the Iranian government, and the Council held Iran accountable for all consequences.
