The Maulana Azad Indian Cultural Center of the Embassy of India in Cairo organized the 27th edition of the annual “Glimpses of India” drawing competition in seven Egyptian governorates, namely: Cairo, Giza, Qalyubia, Gharbia, Sharqia, Red Sea, and Alexandria, during the period from November 26 to December 17, 2023.
The competition was organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Education of the Arab Republic of Egypt. The competition was held for the first time in 1994, and its main goal was to instill interest in India and Indian culture among successive generations of young people in Egypt, which contributes to strengthening relations at the people-to-people level of the two countries.
This edition of the competition witnessed the participation of approximately 11,668 male and female students from more than 1,600 schools from various age groups from 6 to 18 years.
A three-member jury, formed by the Indian Cultural Center in Cairo, selected 81 winners from seven governorates in different age categories.
The Embassy of India in Cairo will organize an awards ceremony for the winners in two cities, where the first ceremony will be held in Cairo at the Republic Theater on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, while the second ceremony will be held at the Hurghada Media Complex Theater on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 in Hurghada.
