The General Secretariat of the League of Arab States participates in the Summit of Non-Aligned Countries

The General Secretariat participated in the Summit of Non-Aligned Countries, which was held in Kampala, Uganda for the period from January 19 to 20, 2024, at the invitation of the Summit Chairman, Yoweri Museveni, President of the Republic of Uganda.

The Secretary-General was represented at the summit by the Assistant Secretary-General for International Political Affairs, Ambassador Dr. Khalid bin Muhammad Manzalawi, who conveyed to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uganda, Gigi Odongo, the greetings of the Secretary-General and his wishes to the Republic of Uganda for success in the tasks of chairing the summit, who in turn thanked the university for attending and participating.

The Assistant Secretary-General met with a number of heads of delegations participating in the summit and ministers and deputy foreign ministers who are members of the movement, and a number of topics of common interest were reviewed, especially the way to end the war in Gaza, facilitate the entry of aid, and reach a comprehensive and just solution to the Palestinian issue.

In its speech, the League of Arab States expressed the necessity of any arrangement regarding the future and fate of Palestine being committed to the principle of Palestine’s rule by the Palestinians and demanding that the international community move vigorously, especially countries with influence, to play an objectively constructive role in all international forums, and stressing full support for the claim. Filed by South Africa against Israel before the International Court of Justice on charges of committing genocide.
