The Embassy of India in Cairo celebrated “International Hindi Language Day” which is celebrated on the 10th of January every year under the auspices of the Ministry of Indian Language.

According to a statement issued by the Indian Embassy in Cairo, the celebrations come within the framework of promoting the Hindi language around the world, as this day commemorates the historical moment when the Hindi language was spoken for the first time in the United Nations General Assembly in 1949.
The Hindi language ranks third among the most widely spoken languages around the world. It is considered the mother tongue of about 340 million people, and is one of the official languages in India. Outside India, Hindi and its derivatives are spoken in more than 20 countries.
On the occasion of World Hindi Language Day, a number of events and activities are being organized to promote the Hindi language and celebrate its rich cultural heritage.

From 21 to 25 January 2024 to celebrate “International Hindi Language Day 2024”, competitions will be held in the following categories:
• Hindi Calligraphy Competition (Advanced Level and Beginner Level)
• Hindi Extemporaneous Speaking Competition (Advanced and Beginner level)
• Writing with pictures in Hindi (Advanced and Beginner level)
• Group competition in Hindi (advanced level and beginner level)
• Essay writing competition in Hindi
The winners will be awarded prizes and certificates of appreciation at the “International Hindi Language Day” celebration, which will be held at the Republic Theater on Wednesday, January 31, 2024.
