The Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted a discussion session with the High Representative of the Coalition for the Sahel, Hammadi Ould Amimo, with the participation of Ambassador Hamdi Sanad Louza, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for African Affairs, Major General Mohamed Salah, Assistant Minister of Defense for External Relations, and a number of Foreign Ministry officials.
The two sides exchanged views on the political and security developments in the Sahel region, with the Egyptian side stressing the importance of cooperation between various international and regional partners to achieve security and stability and coordinating joint efforts to combat terrorism and extremist ideology in that region in a way that responds to the aspirations of its people to achieve development and prosperity.
The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for African Affairs reviewed the distinguished relations between Egypt and the countries of the Sahel region in various fields, and the comprehensive approach that Egypt produces in a way that takes into account the development priorities of the countries of the region and seeks to build the capabilities and develop the cadres of its people.
The Egyptian side also listened to a detailed presentation from the Supreme Representative of the Coalition for the Coast on the coalition’s efforts in the Sahel region and its plan of action in the next phase.
