Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zeid, the official spokesman and director of the Public Diplomacy Department at the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that Sameh Shoukry, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, met today, Monday.
With the European Commissioner for Climate, Fopke Hoekstra, during his visit to the Belgian capital, Brussels, to head the Egyptian delegation to the tenth meeting of the Association Council between Egypt and the European Union.

The official spokesman explained that Minister Shukry was keen to review the key role that Egypt played in advancing the international climate agenda over the past two years, especially through its presidency of the 27th session of the Conference of the Parties to the Climate Convention (COP27), and the successful outcomes that that session provided that will be built upon in the coming years. . He also stressed Egypt’s keenness to coordinate with the European Union in the subsequent phase of the Dubai COP28 conference and up to the Baku COP29 conference, to ensure the consistency of the results achieved while supporting implementation on the ground, and providing the necessary international environment required to achieve the just transition process that was agreed upon in an agreement. Paris.

Ambassador Abu Zeid added that Minister Shukri reviewed the efforts made at the national level in connection with Egypt’s firm commitment to sustainability and green growth, stressing the capabilities that Egypt possesses to meet the increasing demands for obtaining energy from sustainable sources in Europe, whether renewable energy or new energy such as hydrogen. the green. For his part, the European Climate Commissioner was keen to review the Union’s contributions in the field of climate financing, expressing the European side’s appreciation for the successful outcomes witnessed by the COP27 conference.
