In the call, Guterres expressed his appreciation to continue consulting with El Sisi on the latest updates in the escalation in the Gaza Strip and the military clashes between the Palestinian and Israeli sides with regard to the rapid conditions threatening regional stability.
The two sides discussed the efforts being made at the international and regional levels to bring back peace and calm, and to reduce the tension between the two sides. They emphasized the importance of avoiding a larger conflict and allowing the diplomacy a chance to work. They also agreed on the importance to protect civilians and prevent the humanitarian situation from getting worse.
In this context, the General secretary thanked the President for Egypt’s efforts and his appreciated role in making efforts to deliver the humanitarian aid to Gaza strip.
