The Assistant Secretary-General for Palestine and the Occupied Arab Territories Affairs of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States, Dr. Saeed Abu Ali, received at the General Secretariat headquarters on Craig MacLachan, the Australian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, as part of his visit to Cairo.
The meeting was attended by Ambassador Axel Webenhorst, Australian Ambassador to Egypt, Sudan and Eritrea, and Elizabeth Wright, Deputy Ambassador of Australia.
During the meeting, the efforts of the Arab and Australian sides to stop the war on the Gaza Strip and deliver the necessary humanitarian aid, in quantity and quality, and in a sustainable manner that meets the needs of the people of the Strip, were reviewed. The situation in the occupied West Bank, the escalation of violations and attacks by colonial settlers, and the importance of opening a political horizon that leads to Ending the Israeli occupation and embodying the independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, according to the vision of the two-state solution based on the decisions of international legitimacy and the Arab Peace Initiative.
