The French Embassy in Cairo announced that Ambassador Eric Chevalier officially assumed his new duties as Ambassador of France to Egypt.
According to a statement issued by the embassy in Cairo, during his professional career as a doctor, Mr. Chevalier served France in many international forums before his work at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where he worked as director of the Crisis Center and ambassador to many Arab capitals, including Damascus, Doha, and Baghdad.
Ambassador Chevalier arrived in Cairo on January 24, 2024, pledging to work on the prosperity of the French-Egyptian partnership, following the path of his predecessors.
The new French ambassador to Cairo, Eric Chevalier, was born on April 5, 1960. He holds a diploma from the Paris Institute of Political Studies, and a doctorate in medicine thesis at the University of Paris, and became an administrative official in France.

2018 – 2021: Director of the Crisis and Support Centre, Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs.

2012 – 2014: Assigned an assignment in the Central Administration, North Africa and Middle East Administration.
2009 – 2012: Minister Extraordinary Plenipotentiary in Damascus, Syria.
2008 – 2009: Director of Relations and Media, and official spokesman for the French Minister of Foreign and European Affairs.
2007 – 2008: Special Advisor to the French Minister of Foreign and European Affairs.
2006 – 2007: Director of international missions of Doctors of the World.
2006 – 2007: Deputy Ministerial Delegate and then National Coordinator in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, French post-tsunami coordination.
2002 – 2005: Deputy Director in charge of following up on international crises in the General Secretariat for Defense and National Security.
2001 – 2002: Special Advisor to the French Minister of Health.
1999 – 2001: Special Advisor to Mr. Bernard Kouchner, United Nations Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo and Pristina.
1997 – 1999: Technical Advisor to the Secretary of State for Health Affairs.
1996 – 1997: General Delegate of the non-governmental International Medical Assistance Organization.
1995 – 1996: Member of the team establishing the Joint United Nations Program on HIV/AIDS, in Geneva, the Joint United Nations Program on HIV/AIDS.
1989 – 1995: Program Officer at the International Center for Children, Advisor to the World Health Organization, UNICEF, the United Nations Development Program and the World Bank.
