The General Secretariat of the Arab League organizes meetings of the auxiliary technical committees of the Council of Arab Youth and Sports Ministers

In preparation for holding the 47th regular session of the Council of Arab Youth and Sports Ministers and its Executive Office, which is scheduled to be held during February 2024, the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States (Social Affairs Sector – Youth and Sports Administration) organized meetings of the technical committees supporting the Council, which is the Youth Committee, headed by Mr. Muhammad Salama Al-Nabulsi – Minister of Youth of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Sports Committee headed by Dr. Ahmed Al-Mubarqa – Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Iraq, and the Finance Committee headed by Mr. Mubarak Al-Nakhi – Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture and Youth of the United Arab Emirates on behalf of the Minister of Culture and Youth, via video communication technology during On January 28 and 29, 2024.

Ambassador Dr. Haifa Abu Ghazaleh, Assistant Secretary-General – Head of the Social Affairs Sector, stated that the meetings of the Youth Committee and the Sports Committee discussed the youth and sports topics and activities submitted by member states and the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States for implementation during the year 2024.

The Finance Committee also studied the financial issues of the Arab Fund for Youth and Sports Activities.

In this regard, Ambassador Haifa Abu Ghazaleh confirmed that the agenda of the Youth and Sports Committees includes periodic activities that the Council of Arab Youth and Sports Ministers is keen to implement, the most prominent of which are: “The Nile Ship for Youth”, which is organized annually by the Arab Republic of Egypt, and “The Journey of the Holy Feelings” hosted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia annually, and the “European Arab Youth Forum” organized by the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States in cooperation with the Youth Department of the Council of Europe every two years, and ” The Arab Youth Salon,” the “Arab Youth Parliament Simulation Model,” and the “Arab Youth Capital,” which will host its events and activities for the year 2024, the Libyan capital, Tripoli, in addition to the “Arab Youth Excellence Award for 2024” project, which will be devoted to the topic of “Food Security.” .

Ambassador Haifa Abu Ghazaleh added that this session witnessed proposals in a number of new fields, including: The topic of youth and artificial intelligence chosen by the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to be the focus of the “Nineteenth Meeting of Youth in Arab Capitals,” “Empowering Youth in the Field of the Environment” proposed by the Lebanese Republic, “School Sports” proposed by the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, and the proposal by the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. Regarding “Entrepreneurship in the Sports Field” and “Enhancing Civilized Encouragement for Football” proposed by the Lebanese Republic, the General Secretariat’s proposal regarding establishing the Arab-Chinese Youth Forum was also discussed.

Ambassador Haifa Abu Ghazaleh explained that the three committees issued their recommendations on all the topics presented to them, in preparation for submitting them to the next meeting of the Executive Office of the Council of Arab Youth and Sports Ministers, and then the Ministerial Council for approval.
