Egypt warns of the expansion of the conflict in the region

During a phone conversation with British House of Commons MP David Lammy, shadow foreign minister for the opposition Labor Party, Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry expressed concern about the potential expansion of conflict in the region due to ongoing military operations in the Red Sea. This could have detrimental effects on global shipping.

The call was made amidst mounting tension and uncertainty in the area. In an official statement, Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zeid, the spokesman and director of the Public Diplomacy Department at the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, reported that Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry received a phone call from British House of Commons MP David Lammy today. Lammy, the shadow foreign minister for the opposition Labor Party, discussed the situation in the Gaza Strip with Shoukry during the call.

In this context, the dialogue also discussed the growing tensions in the Gaza Strip in the context of the ongoing war in the region and the risks it poses to the future stability of the region. In this context, Sameh Shoukry expressed Egypt’s deep concern over the military operations at the southern entrance to the Red Sea and its impact on international shipping, warning that the expansion of the conflict in the region would have devastating consequences.

The official spokesperson concluded his remarks by noting that both sides also stressed the importance of finding an appropriate political horizon to sustainably address the root causes of the current crisis, just as the Foreign Minister stressed the need… to launch a serious peace process. Aiming at a specific timetable for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on a two-state solution to achieve coexistence and stability in the region.
