The Egyptian Ambassador to Brazil presents her credentials to President Lula da Silva

Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva received Ambassador Mai Taha Khalil, Egyptian Ambassador to Brazil, where she handed over to him her credentials as Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Brazil.

The credentials handover ceremony was followed by a bilateral meeting, during which the Egyptian Ambassador conveyed the greetings of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to his Brazilian counterpart, and expressed her gratitude for representing her country in Brazil, noting the great importance that Egypt attaches to its relations with Brazil.

Ways to strengthen Egyptian-Brazilian relations in various fields, especially economic, trade and investment, were also discussed.

The meeting also witnessed a review of a number of regional and international issues, most notably the current situation in Gaza and its regional and global repercussions.

For his part, President Lula expressed his appreciation for the warm reception he received during his participation in the 27th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, which was held in Sharm El Sheikh in November 2022.

He also conveyed his thanks to the Egyptian government for its support to Brazil in evacuating its nationals from the Gaza Strip, stressing his aspiration to complete his visit to Egypt soon.

The credentials presentation ceremony took place at the Presidential Palace in the capital, Brasilia, where the guard of honor was paraded, the two national anthems were played, and memorial photos were taken, and the ambassador wrote words in the presidential honors book.
