Ambassador Dr. Jamal Abdel Rahim Metwally presented to President Gudni Johansson, Head of State of Iceland, his credentials as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Government of Iceland.
The Egyptian Ambassador conveyed to the President of Iceland the greetings and appreciation of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, and he also expressed his aspiration to enhance cooperation between the two countries in various fields.
For his part, President Johansson welcomed Ambassador Gamal Metwally as Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt accredited to Reykjavik, praising the relations between the two countries. He also requested that his greetings and appreciation be conveyed to both the President of the Republic and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, noting his appreciation for the important role that Egypt is currently playing in the Gaza Strip crisis.
The Icelandic President also stressed the existence of growing prospects for cooperation between the two countries in many fields, especially in the field of tourism, and the exchange of experiences in the fields of environmental protection and climate change, clean energy, fish farming both at sea and on land, information technology, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity. Noting the advantage that Egypt enjoys in that a large portion of the Egyptian people are young people, which contributes to advancing its development process in the future.
