Today, Monday, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian received Sudanese Foreign Minister Ali Sadiq Ali for discussions
According to a statement distributed by the Iranian Embassy in Cairo, this is the first visit of the Sudanese Foreign Minister to Tehran after the resumption of political relations between the two countries.
Last October, Iran and Sudan announced, in a joint statement, that they would resume their political relations after 8 years.
The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced in a joint statement on the resumption of diplomatic relations between Iran and Sudan that was agreed upon, that the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Sudan, and following the contacts that took place between senior officials on both sides during recent months, decided to resume diplomatic relations in a way that serves the interests of the two countries.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs added: The two governments agreed to develop their friendly relations on the basis of mutual respect for sovereignty, equality, common interests, and peaceful coexistence.
The statement indicated that the two sides agreed to expand their cooperation in various fields that would achieve the interests of the peoples of both countries and ensure the security and stability of the region.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that the two sides agreed to take the necessary measures to open the embassies of the two countries in the near future and to make the necessary arrangements for the exchange of official delegations to discuss ways to expand cooperation between the two sides.
