US State Department stated that it would be disastrous to carry out an Israeli military operation in Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip, without planning or with little thought in an area that contains more than a million people.
They continued, “We believe there is still room to negotiate a deal to release detainees in the Gaza Strip.”
They stated that they underline their absolute respect for Iraqi sovereignty, and Baghdad condemned the attacks by pro-Iranian groups on US forces.
Pro-Iranian groups are seeking to drag Iraq into a violent conflict, and US are working to prevent that from happening.
They added, “Our strikes do not violate Iraqi sovereignty, but rather seek to diminish the power of pro-Iranian groups.”
Iraqi military spokesman stated, The bilateral military committee between Baghdad and Washington will continue operating next Sunday. The committee will schedule the end of the mission of the US-led multinational coalition in the country.
