Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zeid, the official spokesman and Director of the Public Diplomacy Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry headed today to the Cypriot capital, Nicosia, on a bilateral visit aimed at following up on the course of relations between the two countries and consulting on regional and international developments.
Ambassador Abu Zeid explained that the visit comes within the framework of emphasizing the strategic nature of relations between Egypt and Cyprus, and the mutual keenness to strengthen these distinguished and close relations, which have developed significantly in recent years, whether at the bilateral level or through the tripartite cooperation mechanism that brings together Egypt, Cyprus, and Greece. The visit also aims to coordinate positions between the two sides on a number of regional and international developments.
The Foreign Ministry spokesman stated that the visit will include important meetings held by Minister Sameh Shoukry with both Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides and Foreign Minister Konstantinos Koumpos, to discuss ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in various fields, and to continue intensive political consultation on issues of common interest, in particular Regarding developments in the crisis in the Gaza Strip.
