Qatar condemned in the strongest terms the Israeli threats to storm the city of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip, and warned of a humanitarian catastrophe in the city, which has become a final refuge for hundreds of thousands of displaced people inside the besieged Strip.
According to a statement obtained by Al-Fajr, the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on the UN Security Council to take urgent action to prevent the Israeli occupation forces from invading Rafah and committing genocide in the city, and to provide full protection for civilians in accordance with international law and international humanitarian law.
The Ministry affirmed the State of Qatar’s categorical rejection of attempts to forcibly displace the brotherly Palestinian people from the Gaza Strip.
The Ministry also reiterated the State of Qatar’s firm position on the justice of the Palestinian issue, the legitimate rights of the brotherly Palestinian people, and the establishment of its independent state on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
