Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a message of congratulations on the occasion of the opening of the 37th African Union Summit.
Xi said that the world today is witnessing profound changes not seen in a century, and that the Global South, represented by China and Africa, is flourishing, which has a profound impact on the course of world history.
He explained that the African Union brings African countries together to strive for strength through unity, promote integration, as well as build free trade zones.
Xi added that the African Union’s successful accession to the G20 has further strengthened Africa’s representation and raised its voice in global governance, for which China extended its heartfelt congratulations.
The Chinese President stressed that relations between China and Africa over the past year have become deeper, adding that the China-Africa Leaders’ Dialogue was held successfully, as the two sides decided to support each other in exploring their own modernization paths and provide a suitable environment in order to jointly realize each other’s development visions.
Xi went on to say that the new session of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation will be held in 2024.
He expressed readiness to work with leaders of African countries, focusing on achieving benefits for people on both sides, to develop a new plan for China-Africa cooperation, and promote the joint construction of a high-level China-Africa community with a shared future.
