The Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council held a Spring Festival reception in the Great Hall of the People.
Chinese President Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, delivered a speech in it, and extended congratulations on the occasion of the Chinese Lunar New Year on behalf of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council to people of all nationalities throughout the country, and to citizens in my region.

Xi stressed that the Year of the Rabbit, which is about to end, is the first year to comprehensively implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, continuing: In the face of extremely difficult and complex international circumstances and the arduous tasks of reform, development and stability, we have focused our efforts and strength on Chinese-style modernization and coordination of internal positions.
We fought hard and moved forward with courage. We overcame multiple difficulties and challenges and proceeded with steady steps on the new path to building a modern socialist state in a comprehensive manner.
The ceremony was presided over by Li Qiang, and was attended by Zhao Liji, Wang Huning, Cai Qi, Deng Xuexiang, Li Shi, Han Cheng and others.
The banquet hall of the Great Hall of the People was decorated with sparkling lamps and a joyful atmosphere prevailed.
Personalities from all walks of life gathered together to welcome the Chinese New Year, and the hall was filled with a joyful and auspicious festive atmosphere.
At around 10 a.m., with the sound of cheerful music, Xi Jinping and other party and state leaders entered the hall and waved their hands to everyone present, wishing them a Happy New Year amid warm applause.
At the Spring Festival reception, those working in the fields of art and literature gave wonderful performances.
The ceremony was attended by senior officials from the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, the State Council, the Supreme People’s Court, the Supreme People’s Procuratorate, the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and the Central Military Commission.
Comrade officials from various central party, governmental, military and mass departments and from the Beijing Municipality, officials of the central committees of various non-communist parties and the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, representatives of non-party figures, representatives of retired comrades, famous experts and scholars, as well as representatives of dignitaries also participated in the ceremony.
