Russian Ambassador to Cairo: We were forced to war after many years of negotiations to settle disputes

Today, the Russian Cultural Center in Cairo hosted a symposium entitled “The Future of a Multipolar World, two years after the beginning of the confrontation between Russia and NATO in Ukraine,” which was organized by the Center for Arab-Eurasian Studies.

According to a statement issued by the Russian Embassy in Cairo, the event was attended by more than 30 prominent diplomats, political scientists, journalists, and public figures.

The official spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, the Russian philosopher Alexander Dugin, and the editor-in-chief of the magazine “Geopolitika.ru” Leonid Savin, delivered welcoming statements in the video conference format, in which they thanked the Egyptian friends for their interest and expressed their assessments of what is happening on the world stage about an increasing trend towards the emergence of multilateralism. Polarity in the context of the growing influence of developing countries.

The Russian ambassador to Egypt, Giorgio Borisenko, pointed out that the United States entered into a confrontation with us a long time ago, carried out a coup in Ukraine in 2014, and began to create a starting point there for attacking our country and pushing the ethnic Kiev regime to exterminate the Russian population in Donbass.

He stressed that this is what forced us, after many years of attempts to settle disputes through negotiations, to launch the special military operation that will continue until the assigned tasks are resolved.

The Russian ambassador pointed out that humanity’s movement towards a multipolar world order indicates the weakness of the West, and welcomed Egypt’s accession to BRICS.

The symposium was moderated by the Egyptian journalist Amr Abdel Hamid and the director of the Center for Arab-Eurasian Studies. The Executive Director of the International Affairs Council at the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the former Egyptian Ambassador to Moscow Ezzat Saad, Professor at Cairo University Nourhan Sheikh, and Egyptian political expert and Professor of Political Science at Cairo University Mohamed Kamal also participated in the symposium. Ayman Al-Raqab, Professor of Political Science at Al-Quds University.
