Russia launches the world’s first and only international awards competition in street sports

The Russian Embassy in Cairo announced the start of registration for the seventh session of the international street culture and sports competition “Cardo”, which aims to develop and support talents in the field of street culture and sports and create social elevators for street youth.

According to a statement issued by the Russian Embassy in Cairo, the “Cardo” competition became the first and only international awards competition in the world, before becoming part of the Russian presidential program “Russia – Land of Opportunities”, which was launched in 2018, as a platform for communication between talented and interested people. of all ages, sharing experiences between schoolchildren, students, specialists, entrepreneurs, managers and volunteers.

The competition takes place in several stages. After submission of applications to participate in the competition and the work of independent judges, the best 48 participants are selected for online selection.

The selected participants will receive a creative assignment, after which the best 12 participants will be selected to complete individual tasks for the finals. The expert council will then review the final works and evaluate the participants’ defense, which will be held in person from August 22 to 25 in the Russian city of Stavropol.

The statement explained that in 2023, 92 countries participated in the electronic stage, while 110 countries are expected to participate in the seventh edition of 2024, as the Russian city of Stavropol prepares to host the grand final of the international competition for the Street Culture and Sports Award “Cardo” next August. .

International “Cardo” competitions are held in 11 areas of street culture and sports: breaking, workout, graffiti, dancing, parkour, free running, skating, trekking, hip-hop, kick scooter.

The finals in Stavropol on August 22-25 will feature the winners of the online selection, 10 national stages and 25 regional stages, as well as athletes who will qualify for the finals based on the results of qualifying competitions in Stavropol.

The winners of the competition will receive financial support to implement projects worth up to 1.5 million rubles, and the number of grantees and the final amount of the grant will be determined by an expert committee during the grand final.
