The heads of the European Union delegation met with the Ukrainian ambassador in Cairo, Mykola Nahorny, to commemorate the second anniversary of the Russian-Ukrainian war, which broke out in 2022.
A statement issued by the European Union in Cairo said that the unjustified aggressive war launched by Russia against Ukraine is a flagrant violation of international law, including the United Nations Charter, and we continue to support Ukraine and stand by it.
The embassies of France, Germany, Poland, and Ukraine in Egypt announced in a joint statement the unity of their countries in condemning the Russian aggression that violates Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and they also stand in solidarity with the Ukrainian people.
The statement said: Two years ago today, the world watched in horror as the outbreak of the large-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, shattering peace on the European continent.
He added: This brutal war, which continues in its aggression and disregard for international law, has caused enormous suffering to the Ukrainian people, claimed the lives of many innocent people and destabilized the world order.
He stressed that the war did not actually start in 2022, adding: Russia’s aggression against Ukraine dates back to 2014, with the temporary occupation of the Crimean Peninsula and the invasion of the Donbass region.
The embassies of France, Germany, Poland and Ukraine said: We affirm the unity of our countries in condemning the Russian aggression that violates Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and we stand in solidarity with the brave people of Ukraine.
He added: This war carries serious consequences that go beyond European borders. It threatens the basic principles of international law and the rules-based global order, and it also undermines global food security, which poses major challenges to other innocent people around the world, including in Egypt.
He added: In this spirit, and with awareness of the fact that this war is not just a regional conflict, we stand with Ukraine not only for its sake, but for the protection of the principles of international law that guide us in all international conflicts, including the ongoing war in Gaza, and we remain committed to our pledge to abide by them. .
