Romanian Ambassador to Cairo: Gender equality and women’s empowerment are essential

The Romanian Ambassador to Cairo, Olivia Toderian, said in her congratulatory message on the occasion of “International Women’s Day” that this week is dedicated to women and girls, and we celebrate their strengths, love, tireless efforts, and ideas that change the world.

She added, in a statement issued by the Romanian Embassy in Cairo, on International Women’s Day we also need to raise awareness about the persistent vulnerabilities that women, especially young women and girls, suffer from, combat gender inequality and change toxic stereotypes that undermine women’s well-being and limit development potential. In any society.

The ambassador stressed that gender equality and women’s empowerment are essential to achieving the Millennium Development Goals, whether in Egypt, Africa, the Middle East, Europe, Asia, or America.

She continued: From politics to sports, medicine, media, arts and sciences, women around the world can and should be fully empowered to make their contribution to individual and societal human achievement, and only then, I am certain, will the world have a real opportunity for a brighter future.

She added, “This week I am thinking of women in Romania and Egypt, as well as all over the world, about the diversity of their life circumstances and personal dreams.”

The ambassador greeted all the women of Egypt, in all governorates, and in all fields of activity, and expressed her aspiration to meet many of them in all walks of life and hear their different experiences.

She concluded her speech by saying: During these difficult times that Egypt and its entire neighborhood are going through, we must all, as women, be ambassadors and drivers of development, solidarity and peace.
