The Philippine Embassy in Egypt hosted an iftar for the Filipino community in Cairo, on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan, where about 130 citizens of the Filipino community and their families attended, along with students from Al-Azhar University and other universities in Cairo.
In his speech, Ambassador Ezz El-Din Tajo, the Philippine Ambassador to Cairo, sent to those present from the Filipino community the greetings of Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.
The Philippine Ambassador briefed the community in Egypt on the details of the Philippine President’s administration’s campaign, which seeks to unify government institutions and society towards achieving political reforms and economic recovery.
The ambassador said that the administration of Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. can achieve these goals through the 2023-2028 Philippine Development Plan, noting that the president’s social and economic agenda consists of 8 basic points, the most important of which is the Philippine Pambanang Babahay Para Sa Project.
Ambassador Tajo encouraged all Filipinos in Egypt to register with the Philippine Embassy, as well as to register and vote for the 2025 national elections. He also reminded those present to ensure the authenticity of their documents and passports and to follow the embassy’s accounts on social media to be updated with the embassy’s news and advice.
Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. emphasized that the United States is the Philippines’ primary strategic trade and investment partner.
Marcos said, during his meeting with a delegation from the US government and the Presidential Trade and Investment Mission, at the Presidential Palace in the capital, Manila: “I have emphasized this before, and I will say it again: The United States is an essential and strategic trade and investment ally of the Philippines.”
Marcos added – as reported by the Philippine newspaper “Manila Bulletin” – that his economically strong country is a formidable ally of the United States, expressing his hope that in the coming months the two countries will be able to see their joint commitments bear fruit. Which leads to strong economic growth.
According to the Philippine President, the arrival of the mission represents a fulfillment of the pledge of US President Joe Biden, during his visit to Washington, DC, in May 2023, as Biden pledged at the time to send a high-level presidential delegation to the Philippines to strengthen investment and trade relations between the two countries.
