Chinese Ambassador to Cairo: Beijing supports the Palestinian people’s access to their legitimate rights

Ambassador Liao Liqiang, the Chinese ambassador to Cairo, praised Egypt’s role in resolving the current situation of the conflict in the Gaza Strip and its efforts to reach a ceasefire, thanking the Red Crescent Society for its contribution in providing aid through the Rafah crossing.

The ambassador confirmed, during a press conference held yesterday, that Beijing supports the Palestinian people obtaining their legitimate rights and establishing the State of Palestine and being a full member of the United Nations, referring to China’s call to hold an international conference on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

The ambassador called for a ceasefire, the provision of humanitarian aid to the residents of the Gaza Strip, and the implementation of the two-state solution, stressing that the existence of the Israeli occupation cannot be ignored, nor the historical injustice that befell the Palestinian people.

He said that this year marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of New China and the tenth anniversary of the establishment of the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Egypt, explaining that Beijing has been Egypt’s largest trading partner for 11 consecutive years, and China is one of the most active and fastest-growing countries investing in Egypt.

He stated that Chinese companies in Egypt have implemented the most important projects, which are “the tallest building in Africa” and “the first light electric railway line in Africa,” in addition to helping Egypt become the first African country with full capabilities to assemble and test satellites, and completing the largest repair project. And modernizing the electricity network in the history of Egypt.

He explained that Egypt today has the largest fiberglass production base, the largest vaccine storage center, the fastest fixed network, and the largest cement production cluster in Africa in terms of size and technical level. He pointed to Egypt’s success in issuing “Panda” bonds worth 3.5 billion yuan in China, making it The first African country to issue such bonds.

He explained that the Chinese economy has achieved continuous recovery and steady progress for high-quality development, with the gross domestic product exceeding 126 trillion yuan in 2023, an increase of 5.2%, ranking it highly among the major economies in the world.

He stated that China has become the largest market for robots in the world, as China’s sales of industrial robots reached 290,000 in 2022, constituting 52.5% of the global market share, which is a much higher rate than Japan, which ranks second (50,000 robots).

He added that the report issued by the International Energy Agency stated that China’s exports of photovoltaic products will exceed $51.2 billion in 2022, an increase estimated at 80 percent, and it is expected that the share of Chinese products in the main components of solar energy generation will increase to 95 percent in global markets by 2025.
