The President of the International Committee of the Red Cross, Mirjana Spolijaric Egger, praised the positions of the Sultanate of Oman in support of international humanitarian efforts, and expressed her happiness with the level of cooperation and coordination existing between the two sides, and the continuous support that the International Committee of the Red Cross receives from the government of the Sultanate of Oman, directed to supporting good efforts to achieve security and stability.
And peace in the Middle East region, expressing her aspiration to visit the Sultanate of Oman in the near future, and to see an imminent end to the crises in the Middle East region, and to restore security and stability to this vital region of the world.
This came during the official consultation session in New York between the Permanent Delegation of the Sultanate of Oman to the United Nations, headed by Ambassador Dr. Muhammad bin Awad Al Hassan, Permanent Representative of the Sultanate of Oman, and the delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross.
During the session, a number of current issues in the Middle East region were discussed, with both sides stressing the importance of all parties respecting the rules and foundations of international humanitarian law, especially in the occupied Palestinian territories and the Gaza Strip in particular.
