Romanian Ambassador: My country’s accession to the Schengen is an important step to strengthen unity in the European Union

Ambassador Olivia Tudrin, Romanian Ambassador to Cairo, stressed the importance of her country joining the Schengen Area as a national goal for all Romanians, noting that this is a success that crowns the great efforts made by the Romanian government.

The Romanian ambassador said, in a statement issued by the Romanian Embassy in Cairo, today, Sunday, that Romania’s accession to the “Schengen” area is an important step towards strengthening unity within the European Union, especially in a very sensitive international context, explaining that Romanians have the right to move without controls on the air and sea borders of the region. As well as its contribution to stimulating trade relations between Romania and other member states, and tourism or academic exchange within the Union and in relation to third countries.

Ambassador Tudrin stated that Romanian diplomatic and consular missions will begin issuing unified short-term visas “Schengen visas” from today, and citizens of third countries will be allowed to travel directly from Romania without additional steps for tourism or business purposes to other Schengen countries.

She confirmed that all measures have been taken at the consular section in Cairo in order to resume visa services immediately in accordance with the new regulations and procedures, and all applicants are advised to verify information through the embassy’s Facebook page.
