Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif received Ambassador Ahmed Jawad Rabei, the Palestinian Ambassador to Islamabad, in the presence of Pakistani Foreign Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Advisor to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi and the Pakistani Foreign Secretary.
The Pakistani Prime Minister thanked the President of the State of Palestine, Dr. Mahmoud Abbas, for the warm congratulatory message he sent to him following his re-election, and said that Pakistan has a historical and close relationship with the sister State of Palestine and that it has continuously supported the Palestinian cause in the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, as well as in other international forums. .
The Prime Minister strongly condemned the ongoing Israeli atrocities in Gaza that have continued unabated since October 7, 2023, and called for an immediate end to the genocidal war waged by Israel against the brave and innocent Palestinian people.
He expressed his deep condolences over the tragic death of more than 32,000 Palestinians, including 17,000 children, in addition to more than 70,000 injured due to atrocities committed by Israeli forces.
The Prime Minister referred to the interim ruling of the International Court of Justice in the case filed by South Africa and stated that Pakistan had also made a verbal statement of support for Palestine in the International Court of Justice.
While the Prime Minister welcomed the adoption of Security Council Resolution 2728, he expressed his disappointment that Israel chose to ignore the resolution and continue to brazenly violate it.
He assured the Palestinian ambassador that Pakistan will continue to raise its voice in every international forum in solidarity with the Palestinian people, as Pakistan has so far sent seven batches of relief materials to the residents of Gaza. Another payment is scheduled to be disbursed immediately after Eid.
For his part, the Palestinian ambassador thanked the Prime Minister and the Pakistani people for supporting the Palestinian people, which was a source of strength for them in this difficult time.
