On Sunday, the Romanian Ambassador to Cairo, Olivia Toderian, held a meeting with Dr. Ahmed Abdel Hamid, Chairman of the General Authority for Healthcare Accreditation and Regulation (GAHAAR), in the New Administrative Capital – according to a statement by the Romanian Embassy in Cairo.
During the meeting, ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries were discussed for a strong partnership in the health care sector.
The ambassador said: By benefiting from our expertise in this field, Romania can help Egypt increase the number of tourists and reach new records, while also promoting economic growth and new investments.
In addition, telemedicine and e-health technologies have tremendous potential to revolutionize health care delivery, especially in remote or underserved areas.
For his part, Dr. Ahmed Abdel Hamid and his team provided a comprehensive overview of GAHAR’s activities, highlighting their commitment to ensuring high standards and regulations for healthcare delivery in Egypt.
The steps taken by GAHAR in improving the quality of health care for the Egyptian people, as well as foreign tourists visiting Egypt, were recognized.
Various cooperation opportunities between the two countries were also discussed in the field of medical tourism, hospitalization, geriatric medicine, telemedicine, and e-health.
Both countries have unique strengths, resources and knowledge in these areas, and by joining forces, the two countries can create new developments, projects and synergies that will benefit patients and healthcare providers, as well as companies and employers.
Medical tourism represents a great opportunity for cooperation, as Romania is famous for its skilled medical specialists and healthcare services in this field, which go back to its ancient Roman thermal spas.
The Romanian Embassy announced its commitment to facilitating meaningful partnerships between Egypt and Romania in the health care sector.
