The Czech Embassy in Cairo announced the arrival of a high-level delegation from the Czech Senate to conduct an official visit to the Arab Republic of Egypt from April 22 to 26, headed by Professor Jiri Drahos, First Vice President of the Czech Senate.
According to a statement distributed by the Czech Embassy in Cairo, a copy of which we obtained, the delegation includes Jiri Rogicka, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Education, Science, Culture and Human Rights, and Jana Havliková, Deputy Minister of Science, Research and Innovation of the Czech Republic.
The visit aims to strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two countries in several key areas, as the Czech delegation is scheduled to meet with a number of Egyptian officials to discuss ways of cooperation in protecting cultural heritage and combating the smuggling of antiquities, in addition to cooperation in the fields of science, scientific research and innovation.
The visiting delegation will be received in Cairo by Bahaa El-Din Abu Shaqa, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dr. Mohamed Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Nevin Al-Kilani, Minister of Culture, Dr. Sherif Sedqi, CEO of the Egyptian Space Agency, and Dr. Mohamed Ismail Khaled, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities.
On April 23, the Supreme Council of Culture will also hold a special event to present Czech culture, literature and language to senior representatives of Egyptian culture, while the delegation will also visit the Abu Sir archaeological site, where a Czech scientific mission is working in the field of Egyptology and paleontology there.
