The Italian Minister of Business and Head of the “Made in Italy Product” initiative, Adolfo Orso, will visit Cairo today, Monday and Tuesday, to hold a series of bilateral meetings and entrepreneurship meetings, within the framework of the Italian initiatives of the Mattei Plan for Africa.
High-level institutional meetings are scheduled to be held aimed at strengthening cooperation between the countries and deepening strategic relations in various fields.
Minister Orso will meet with the Minister of Communications and Information Technology of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Amr Talaat, to discuss the files included in the G7 declaration on industry, technology, digitization, and Italy’s proposal to establish a center for artificial intelligence in Africa. Files related to Italy’s support for the digitization process in Egypt will also be discussed.
Later, Minister Orso will meet with Egyptian Minister of Industry and Trade Ahmed Samir to discuss partnerships in the field of medium and small companies and the support that Italy can provide to Egyptian medium and small companies, with a special focus on four industrial complexes that were identified during the recent visit of Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni to Egypt.
Finally, a meeting is scheduled to be held with the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Tarek El Molla, to discuss the two countries’ policies in the field of extraction and processing of vital raw materials, and to identify potential partnerships in this field.
The focus will be on the renewable energy sector, where a meeting will be held with the Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Mohamed Shaker, to discuss investments and connections between Italian and Egyptian networks.
On the same day, a high-level roundtable on renewable energy will be held with the participation of relevant agencies and companies of the two countries, such as the Italian Commercial Center, SACE, CDP, Danieli, Prysmian, Terna, Cesi and RS4 Africa.
A memorandum of understanding is scheduled to be signed between the Italian Space Agency and the Egyptian Space Agency in the presence of Ministers Orso and the Egyptian Minister of International Cooperation.
In the end, a round table will be organized on the field of digitization with the participation of agencies and companies specialized in the two countries, including the Italian Commercial Center, SACE, the Cash Deposits and Loans Company (CDP), and Infratel.
