Italian Minister of Industry and Business Adolfo Oroso stressed the importance of the strategic partnership between Egypt and Italy, noting that the aim of his current visit to Egypt is to enhance cooperation in the field of production capacity.
He stressed in statements that Rome has considered Egypt a strategic partner for a long time, indicating that this partnership must continue in a deeper way within the framework of the trend towards the Mediterranean, the Middle East and Africa, explaining that Egypt and Italy are considered a bridge between Europe, Africa and the Eastern Mediterranean.
He said that he discussed today with the Minister of Information Technology, Amr Talaat, the establishment of a center for artificial intelligence, which is one of the goals of Italy’s presidency of the G7 Industrial Group.
He explained that he discussed with the minister cooperation in the field of producing optical fibers and cables to reach Europe and Italy via Egypt.
He added that he discussed with the Minister of Trade and Industry Ahmed Samir the implementation of pioneering projects for industrial cities in the fields of leather, antiquities and marble within the framework of the Mati Plan for Africa.
He stated that his discussions with the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Tarek El Molla, focused on three axes: cooperation in the fields of oil and gas in light of the success of Eni, as well as a discussion of the important primary resources required in the clean green technology industry, while the third axis dealt with renewable energy, including ammonia and green hydrogen.
He pointed out his participation tomorrow in a symposium on renewable energy in the presence of the Minister of Electricity, Mohamed Shaker, and Italian and Egyptian companies, stressing Rome’s interest in material resources, which is an important sector for the development and Egyptian economy.
He added that the Mattei plan for Africa includes funding estimated at 5 billion euros, and it is for the plan drawn up by the Italian Prime Minister for cooperation between Europe and Africa, pointing out that the first phase of the Mattei plan includes 9 countries, stressing Europe’s interest in being independent in obtaining raw materials in light of the list of materials. European crude oil, which will be announced soon.
He stressed the importance of cooperation with Egypt in the field of raw materials needed by Italy and Europe, noting that he agreed with the Egyptian ministers to develop a plan of action that would be the basis for cooperation, with agreements to be signed at a later stage.
