The State of Qatar expresses its deep concern about the increase in escalation and violence in the vicinity of the city of El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur State in the sisterly Republic of Sudan. In this context, it calls on all parties to defuse tension, exercise restraint, and avoid fighting, which will lead to catastrophic consequences for civilians.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stresses the necessity of dialogue between all Sudanese parties to end the armed conflict permanently, in preparation for launching broad negotiations that will ultimately lead to a comprehensive agreement and sustainable peace. It also stresses the necessity of placing the Sudanese crisis on the list of priorities of the international community, and completely resolving its roots.
The Ministry reiterates the firm position of the State of Qatar in support of the unity, independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Sudan, rejecting any form of interference in its internal affairs, and fully respecting the choices of its brotherly people for freedom, peace, justice and prosperity.
