Tokyo honors the former Foreign Minister and Japanese language teacher with the Emperor of Japan Medal

The Japanese government announced the coronation of Dr. Nabil Elaraby, former Minister of Foreign Affairs and former Secretary General of the League of Arab States, and Dr. Karam Khalil, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Languages ​​and Translation, and Professor and Head of the Japanese Language Department at Al-Ahram Canadian University, with the Medal of His Majesty the Japanese Emperor, in recognition of their outstanding contributions to strengthening relations and consolidating bonds of friendship. Between Japan and Egypt.

Dr. Nabil Elaraby, former Minister of Foreign Affairs and former Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, received the Order of the Rising Sun – a gold and silver star.
While Dr. Karam Khalil, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Languages ​​and Translation, and Professor and Head of the Japanese Language Department at Al-Ahram Canadian University, was awarded the Order of the Rising Sun – golden rays with a neck scarf.
Regarding Dr. Nabil El-Arabi, he served as Minister of Foreign Affairs of Egypt in 2011, then Secretary-General of the League of Arab States from the same year until 2016, where he contributed to strengthening Japanese-Egyptian relations and the relations between Japan and the League of Arab States. In 2013, Dr. Nabil Elaraby consulted and coordinated on the Japanese-Arab cooperation memorandum with the then Japanese Foreign Minister Kishida Fumio, currently the Prime Minister of Japan, and then signed it with him, which contributed to laying the foundation for achieving a noticeable leap in Japanese-Arab relations, and continuing The Japan-Arab Economic Forum and the first session of the Japan-Arab Political Dialogue were held later in 2017.

It was decided to crown him with the Order of the Rising Sun – a gold and silver star, in recognition of these outstanding achievements.

As for Dr. Karam Khalil, he had a long history in teaching the Japanese language in Egypt over a long period, beginning in 1985 until the present day, during which he made prominent contributions to academic cooperation between Japan and Egypt, through his teaching work in the Language Department. Japanese at the Faculty of Arts at Cairo University, the Japanese Language Program at the Department of Asian Languages ​​and Translation, College of Languages ​​and Translation at King Saud University in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Department of Japanese Language at the Faculty of Al-Alsun at Ain Shams University, the Department of Japanese Language at the Faculty of Al-Alsun at Aswan University, and the Department of Japanese Language at the Faculty of Languages ​​and Translation at Al-Ahram Canadian University And others.
It was decided to crown him with the Order of the Rising Sun – golden rays with a neckerchief, in recognition of these outstanding achievements.

Ambassador Oka, the Japanese Ambassador to Egypt, expressed his thanks and appreciation for the achievements and contributions made by Dr. Nabil Elaraby and Dr. Karam Khalil.

He also expressed his happiness to see Japanese-Egyptian relations making progress through the activities carried out by the Japanese Embassy in cooperation with Egyptian friends, declaring that the Japanese Embassy in Egypt will continue to make every effort to further develop Japanese-Egyptian relations in the future as well.
