In celebration of the tenth anniversary of the establishment of the Korean Cultural Center in Egypt, and amidst a large diplomatic and public presence, the open theater at the Opera House yesterday witnessed the launch of the Korean Culture Week for the year 2024 under the title K-Movement.
Korean Ambassador Kim Young-hyun said that cultural relations contributed greatly to raising the level of mutual understanding and partnership relations between South Korea and Egypt, which in turn was reflected in all areas of cooperation between the two countries.
He added that this year coincides with the tenth anniversary of the establishment of the Korean Cultural Center, while next year the two countries will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, where many cultural events will be organized.
The Korean ambassador stressed that despite the recent age of diplomatic relations between South Korea and Egypt, the bilateral cooperation relations between them have witnessed a major boom at all levels.
For her part, Dr. Nevin Al-Kilani, Minister of Culture, expressed her happiness at organizing the Korean Cultural Week, as it represents an opportunity to enjoy traditional and contemporary Korean arts, which allows us to learn about a huge asset of a rich and distinguished civilization.
The Minister of Culture also welcomed the Korean artists to Egypt, praising their distinguished performances, and appreciating the efforts of the Korean Cultural Center and its role in promoting cultural exchange between the two countries over the past years.
Ambassador Omar Selim, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Cultural Affairs of Egypt, stressed the depth of bilateral cultural relations between the two countries, and the importance of the tireless efforts made to strengthen the relationship between the peoples of the two countries through arts and culture, praising the efforts of cultural institutions, such as the Korean Cultural Center in Cairo, and the Egyptian Opera House, and their role.
Continuous and constructive efforts to enhance the desired rapprochement between the peoples of the two countries, and to emphasize through arts and culture the importance of spreading the culture of peace among the peoples of the world.
The artistic celebration was witnessed by Ambassador Ahmed Shaheen, Egyptian Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Asian Affairs, and a large number of ambassadors of foreign countries and representatives of diplomatic missions in Egypt.
The Goblin Party, a modern dance group, and the B-Boy Gamblerz Crew presented a group of diverse performances that mix traditional and contemporary dances.
The activities of the Korean Cultural Week continue, with workshops scheduled to be organized for coloring traditional Korean masks, and the activities will conclude on May 24 with the K-Pop Festival.
