The ambassador said: “Zamalek Club was crowned a short while ago in the African Confederation Championship after defeating its guest, RS Berkane of Morocco, with a clean goal, in the second leg of the Confederation Cup final at Cairo International Stadium,” and he continued: “Congratulations, Egypt.”
President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi congratulated Zamalek Club on its wonderful victory, today, against RS Berkane and achieving the African Confederation Cup for the second time in its history.
President Sisi wrote on his official pages on social media: “A distinguished performance and wonderful efforts that deserve all appreciation. All hail to the fans of Zamalek and to all Egyptians. We wish more success and achievements in the future. I also extend my greetings of appreciation to the honorable performance of the brotherly Moroccan team.”
Zamalek Club won the Confederation title at the expense of Morocco’s RS Berkane, making it the White Castle’s second Confederation title in its history after winning it, in 2019, by defeating RS Berkane also on penalty kicks.
Zamalek Club won the title after defeating RS Berkane 1-0 in the match, which was held between them at Cairo Stadium, in the second leg of the final match of the African Confederation, to achieve the championship by taking advantage of the goal rule with two away goals due to its loss in the first leg by two goals to one.
Zamalek’s goal was scored by Ahmed Hamdy in the 20th minute with a powerful shot from inside the penalty area after a cross ball from Ahmed Sayed Zizou, which he shot directly into the goal, scoring the first goal for the white team.
