The Turkish Ambassador to Cairo, Salih Mutlu Shen, visited His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, Pope of the Coptic Orthodox Church, in his office.
Ambassador Saleh Mutlu Shen expressed the importance that Turkey attaches to establishing positive relations and close communication with our Egyptian Coptic brothers, during the meeting, which was full of warmth.
The ambassador stated that the embassy, within the framework of its relationship with Egyptian society, has close friendly relations with many prominent Egyptian Copts in the cultural, artistic and economic fields.
Pope Tawadros II expressed his happiness at meeting Ambassador Shen, noting that the Egyptian Copts lived in Turkey, practicing their worship freely, and all means were provided for their worship.
The Pope also stressed that they fully support the rights of the Palestinian people and their cause, and provide humanitarian aid, especially food, and that they are waiting and demanding a ceasefire as soon as possible.
He said that they received President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s position on Palestine with great respect and appreciation.
