Egypt FM Abdelatty meets African counterparts ahead of AU 6th Coordination Meeting in Ghana

Abdelatty held meetings with the Chairperson of the AU Commission Moussa Faki and the Director General of the African Union Commission, according to the Egyptian ministry’s spokesperson Ahmed Abu Zeid.

Furthermore, the Egyptian foreign minister held a number of bilateral meetings with his counterparts from Algeria, South Africa, Tanzania, Mauritania, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Senegal, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Ghana.

He also met with a group of notable Guinean businessmen in the fields of construction, pharmacy, shipping, automotive, energy, food products and agricultural projects.

Abdelatty affirmed that the Egyptian government attaches great importance to strengthening relations with the African continent, especially in the trade and economic fields.

Abdelatty’s meetings aimed to coordinate the joint African action, evaluate the progress achieved in continental and regional integration, and follow up on bilateral relations between Egypt and African countries.

This year’s summit is scheduled to address regional integration and follow up on the AU policies and economic blocs to enhance the capacity for integration.

In parallel, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly arrived in Accra earlier Saturday to attend the meeting on behalf of President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi.

The premier is scheduled to deliver a speech on the role of the New Partnership for Africa’s Development Agency (NEPAD) in promoting regional and continental integration under the umbrella of Agenda 2063.
