Investment Minister Attends Oath-Taking Ceremony for 8 New Commercial Attachés

The minister emphasized the significant interest in commercial representation due to its crucial role in enhancing economic and trade relations with all countries and global economic blocs. This focus comes amid the current changes in the global economy.

The minister also noted that the coming period will see an activation of the role of the Commercial Representation Authority as Egypt’s commercial diplomacy arm worldwide.

The ministry aims to maximize the benefits of Egyptian commercial offices abroad by opening new markets and outlets for Egyptian exports and overcoming obstacles that hinder them.

This effort is intended to increase export rates through market expansion and raise Egypt’s export shares in these markets, as well as attract more foreign investment to the Egyptian market.

The minister added that the appointment of new commercial attachés aligns with the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade’s objectives to strengthen the Egyptian commercial representation system.

Additionally, the minister outlined specific assignments for the commercial offices abroad, including market research, communication with local importers, promoting Egyptian products, and advocating for investment in the Egyptian market as an investment destination. He highlighted the significant achievements of commercial offices in attracting important foreign investments in recent times, providing exporters with market needs and export requirements, and supporting connections between Egyptian exporters and international supply chains.

The oath-taking ceremony was attended by Commercial Counsellor Yehya Al-Wathiq Billah, Head of Commercial Representation, Commercial Counsellor Ahmed Shawky, Director of the Technical Office, Security, and Protocol, and Commercial Counsellor Hazem Nasr, Deputy Director of Diplomatic Affairs at the Commercial Representation Authority.

Commercial Counsellor Yehya Al-Wathiq Billah confirmed that this new batch of commercial attachés was selected based on criteria of competence and excellence, in accordance with the provisions of Law No. 45 of 1982 on the Diplomatic and Consular Corps and its amendments. He noted that the new commercial attachés will undergo intensive training programs both domestically and internationally.
