President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has approved Law No. 21 of 2023, which authorizes the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources to contract with the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation and the National Joint-Stock Company Naftogaz of Ukraine will modify the commitment agreement made under Law No. 70 of 2006 to search for and develop oil in the Western Desert area of Alam El-Shawish East.
