In a crucial match held on September 14, 2024, China defeated Japan 2-0 to advance to the semifinals of the Asian Champions Trophy.
China’s performance was fueled by goals from Benhai Chen and Jieming Chao in the 7th and 25th minutes, respectively.
The team dominated possession, especially in the first half, and successfully defended against Japan’s aggressive attacks in the latter part of the match.
Despite Japan’s attempts, including earning several penalty corners in the third and fourth quarters, China’s defense, led by goalkeeper Caiyu Wang, remained solid, keeping Japan scoreless.
This victory also knocked Malaysia out of contention and solidified Korea’s place as the fourth semi-finalist, setting up a semi-final match between China and Pakistan
