Alexandria, the city of art and creativity, hosts the fourteenth session of the Alexandria International Theater Festival, which will be held during the period from September 20 to 26, 2024, in which the Spanish artistic troupe “Angeles de Trabo” will participate with its theatrical work “Error 404” on September 22 at the Anfoushi Cultural Palace in Alexandria.
The festival, which was established in 2008, aims to provide an exceptional theatrical experience, focusing on creativity, without production restrictions, allowing creators to present their works with absolute freedom.
About 15 shows from different countries around the world are participating in this year’s session.
In addition, seven workshops will be presented on the sidelines of the festival, presented by artistic groups from Egypt, Iraq, the United States, Australia and Spain.
The “Angeles de Trabo” group is an artistic group with 40 years of experience in the field of puppet theater, consisting of Yolanda Atala, Julio Gayo, Maicole Gayo and Wagner Gayo.
This group is known today for the professional level of its performances, and throughout all these years, it has always strived to innovate, surprise the audience and go beyond the norm in the world of puppet theater.
Their latest artistic works have been shown in several countries around the world and have also participated in the most important national and international festivals, winning many awards..
“Error 404” is a wordless play directed at children and young people – an audience increasingly accustomed to new technologies – like Steve, the main character in the play, an ordinary young man living a simple and routine life, increasingly immersed in a world full of technological devices.
This delicate and moving play invites us to reflect on the value of life and the wonders it offers us that we often overlook.
In addition, the troupe will present a free workshop inspired by the play for theater students as well as professionals on September 23 at the Cervantes Institute in Alexandria.
The troupe will then present the same play and workshop in Cairo on September 24 and 25 respectively at the famous Sakia El Sawy Cultural Center (7pm for the show and 4pm for the workshop).
Sakia El Sawy was founded in 2003 to encourage artistic and cultural production by providing spaces, stages and equipment for various forms of theatrical arts.
Admission is free for all performances and workshops by “Angeles de Trabo”.
